Named for the innovative visual artist Alexander Calder, the Calder Quartet strives to balance its programs by connecting quartet masterworks with those by contemporary composers, emerging musicians and performers across genres.
Winners of 2009’s ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming and quartet-in-residence at L.A.’s Colburn Conservatory, the ensemble is considered one of the most exciting, smart, accessible and innovative young quartets to emerge in the 21st century.
Preceding the concert at 7:15 in our second floor Community Room, Andrew Bulbrook (violin, Calder Quartet) will facilitate a dialogue for interested concert goers. A native of Massachusetts, Andrew began the violin at age 6 and made his solo debut with orchestra at age 15. Intrigued by the role of Classical music in today’s society, Andrew has been a commentator on radio stations throughout the U.S. Seating is limited so plan on arriving promptly.
