When Momma Prayed

When Momma Prayed

When Momma Prayed is a story about a black family living in the Deep South During the 1960’s. When the father unexpectedly passes away, the family’s food and money quickly vanishes. Their situation becomes dire, Momma prays, and God answers her prayer in a miraculous way.

When Momma Prayed was originally produced at The Mixed Blood Theatre, Minneapolis, in 2007. During its run the attendance grew to the point of packed houses by closing night. We are proud to bring this production to the stage again, enhanced with a musical score, and powerful cast.

The cast all comes from, and are professionally established in, the Minneapolis theatre community. They have performed at esteemed venues including: The Lincoln Center For The Arts, (New York), The Guthrie Theatre (Minneapolis) The Ordway Theatre (Minneapolis), The Goodman Theatre (Chicago), The Penumbra Theatre (Minneapolis), and have performed in major motion picture, theatre, television, and music productions working with celebrity caliber talent.

The play contains a blend of soulful singing, gospel, and blues music that is written, produced and performed by nationally recognized musical talent from Minneapolis.
