In these complex times, short nonfiction pieces are being put to lively uses. Whether crafted as blog entries, newspaper columns, story-based op-ed pieces, or brief personal essays, in these pieces art meets politics, and the self meets the world. In this class, we will read and write short literary pieces about urgent local, national, international, and global events. We will recount the outward story, and use imagery and personal anecdotes to bring it to life. In all we do, we will explore the place where the inner world of the writer and the outer world of events intersect. For writers at all levels. No class 11/27. $3 copy fee payable to teaching artist.
